Drawing & Painting (level 1)

In this no stress introductory course we explore various mediums of drawing and painting as well as learn about how to utilize the elements and principles of design. A great way to explore your creativity.

Students will concentrate on developing drawing and painting techniques, and producing works using a variety of media; pencil, scratchboard, pen and ink, charcoal, pastels, as well as tempera and acrylic paint. Emphasis will be on drawing/painting realistically from observation and achieving successful compositions while utilizing the principles of design and gaining a mastery of different media. Students will also practice in a personal sketchbook. Students will again an understanding of the creative process through visual problem solving, brainstorming, editing, re-working and reflection. Historical and contemporary artists and styles will be incorporated into many projects in order to provide cultural understanding and context.
